Daly River
|
|
The Daly River region is
located between Darwin and Katherine and begins where the
Katherine and Flora Rivers intersect and flow west to the
Timor Sea. It encompasses many unique ecosystems,
including hot springs and gorges, making it a fantastic
spot to camp and bushwalk.

Douglas Daly
|
|
Just east of the Daly River is the area known as the
Douglas Daly. It is home to the popular Douglas Hot
Springs. In certain parts, the springs bubble at
temperatures reaching 60 degrees Celsius. Swimming is
recommended in cooler pools downstream. There are plenty
of camping and caravan facilities in the region. The
Douglas Daly Tourist Park has places where you can swim
through The Arches, an amazing natural formation, into a
waterhole that's safe for swimming.

Timber Creek
|
|
The small township of Timber Creek, 285 kilometres west of
Katherine, is the region's main centre and home to about
70 people. Fishing is Timber Creek's biggest drawcard and
the beautiful Victoria River, running through deep valleys
and gorges, is one of the Northern Territory's most scenic
places to catch barramundi.

Keep River
National Park
|
|
Further west is a photographer's dream, the Keep River
National Park. It is situated 170 kilometres west of
Timber Creek and surrounds towering sandstone landforms
that radiate a vast number of colours at sunrise and
sunset. The area is best explored on foot, following
well-marked bushwalking trails. There are two camping
areas in the Park with barbecues, tables and pit toilets.
